Ogden Twilight Concerts – The Flaming Lips with The Growlers
Thursday, July 18, 2019 at 5 PM – Ogden Amphitheater – 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm
The Flaming Lips are an American rock band formed in 1983 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. After producing several albums and EPs through the indie label, Restless, the band moved to a label with Warner Brothers. With them, they released their first record under the new label, Hit to Death in the Future Head. Their vast uprising from this album was followed by The Soft Bulletin. This record won NME Magazine’s Album of the Year which was followed by Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots 3 years later. Several more awards have been given to the band, so obviously they are an act to see! Check out The Flaming Lips on Youtube.
Second, but certainly not least, The Growlers will be performing July 18th as well. This American band formed in Dana Point, California in 2006 and has since gained a great popularity. The Growlers fit into no specific music category, being described as “indie rock,” “psychedelic rock,” and even “surf music.” The raspy, eclectic voice of lead singer Brooks Nielsen combined with the funky guitar riffs from Matt Taylor and jazzed-up keyboard player and guitarist Kyle Straka create a sound unique to only this band.
